Products and applications

Products and applications

  • Basalt roving – for different types of resin systems including epoxy, polyester, vinyl ester, polypropylene     and phenolic. Applications: high pressure vessels, tanks & cylinders, pipes. Concentrate reinforcing bars, l   oad bearing profiles and gratings, wind-mill blades, boats, automotive parts.

  • Basalt chopped strand – can be sized for different resin system including epoxy, phenolic, polyurethane, polypropylene and for applications like concrete reinforcement, mats and veil production. Processes: BMC technology filling and reinforcing of polymers and composites, wet chop mats and veils, concrete reinforcing by premix technology Applications: BMC parts for the automotive industry, friction materials, surface finishing for fire protection, fiber reinforced concrete

  • Basalt non-woven and roving fabrics – for various applications non-woven fabrics can be produced from different linear density roving compatible with different resin systems. Basalt roving fabrics – unidirectional, bi- & multi-axial – can be used in a broad spectrum of applications. Applications: blades for wind power generators, boat hulls

  • Basalt yarns, woven fabrics and braided sleeves – basalt woven fabrics are the best solution for fire protection, heat and sound insulation. Processes: open and closed moulding technologies, prepregs Applications: curtains for fire protection, heat and sound insulation, braided sleeves for tubes and electric insulation, ballistic protection
Basalt fiber advantages and benefits

Basalt fibers show 15-20% higher tensile strength and modulus, better chemical resistance, extended operating temperature range and better environmental friendliness and recyclability than regular E-glass – all in one material getting close to, and sometimes outperforming high strength glasses and . other specialty fibers but at better price Our continuous basalt fibers are ideally suited for applications requiring high temperatures, chemical resistance, durability, mechanical strength, low water absorption or aesthetic application. The processing of basalt fibers does not require special equipment or technologies – all know processes including pultrusion, filament winding, SMC/BMC as well as conversion into regular textile, non-woven, UD and multi-axial fabrics can be used. Our basalt fibers are compatible with most types of resins such as epoxy, polyester, vinyl ester, phenolic, polyurethane and polypropylene resin systems. Applications of our include high pressure vessels, tanks and cylinders, load bearing profiles, wind mill blades, boats, friction materials, concentrate reinforcement and many others.
